Gearboxes and Engines

What is the function of a gearbox?
In mechanical engineering, there are many technical systems that are often driven by motors. The energy supplied by the motors is then ultimately converted by other components, e.g. the chuck of a drilling machine. In this case, the mechanical power of the motors is usually not used directly. Rather, the power must be provided in different ways depending on the situation. More precisely formulated, it means that the power is designed either for the greatest possible force or for a great speed. It is precisely this control between force and speed (more precisely: between torque and speed) that gearboxes perform, which is why they are important components in mechanical engineering. In addition to the task of transmitting power, gearboxes have the task of influencing the direction of rotation and controlling the speed or torque.
Which types of gearboxes exist?
Depending on the application, gearboxes are available in many different designs, such as toothed gears, worm gears or planetary gears. The basic physical processes for converting speed and torque or speed and force are always identical. We offer various worm gear units from ATLANTA Antriebssysteme GmbH. If you do not find the suitable gearbox, please do not hesitate to contact us. For this you can use our contact form or write directly a mail to (info[at]pach-systems.de).
